St Just Churchtown and Clive's cattle. My first cuckoo of the year. May 2012.
mixed media 33 x 59cm. POA

On the south east side of St just near the church is a steep paved track leading down into the valley. This is Venton East, meaning the St Just fountain, and was the way to the main water source for St Justers.

Your eye follows this thoroughfare up the valley side past the field full of Clive's cattle to the church and to the skyline of St Just roof tops.

I enjoy the shapes of all those chimney potted slate roofs against the Penwith sky - vernacular and familiar. It's also the view I'm presented with when walking to St Just from home.
